The Heritage Foundation has announced that David Addington, Dick Cheney’s former counsel and chief of staff, has become the think tank’s senior vice president and deputy chief operating officer.
The move makes Addington part of the executive team of Heritage President Edwin Feulner and Executive Vice President Phillip Truluck — the structure that has led the organization for the past 35 years.

President Obama’s nominee to be the third-ranking official at the Department of Energy is stepping down, Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced Wednesday.
In an e-mail to department employees, Chu said Arun Majumdar, the acting undersecretary of Energy and the White House’s nominee to permanently fill the slot, is leaving next month. “Arun has been an invaluable resource to me, to the Department, and to the Administration, and we will miss his leadership,” Chu wrote.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — In a packed, tense courtroom room here Wednesday, jurors heard over and over again that former presidential candidate John Edwards is a liar.
They heard it from Edwards’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, and they heard it from a staffer who worked to draft public statements in an effort to contain the damage from revelations about the former senator’s affair with a campaign staffer. Edwards even lost credibility with his closest advisers. Jennifer Palmieri, now deputy White House communications director, testified that she advised Edwards not to do an August 2008 interview with ABC if he wasn’t prepared to tell the truth.
