The increasingly confident, and increasingly punchy, former Massachusetts governor took a fresh swipe at the former House speaker at a campaign rally here Friday night, likening him to the fairy tale character “Goldilocks.”

CAMBRIDGE, Md. — President Obama and Vice President Biden on Friday worked to rally congressional Democrats preparing to do battle with Republicans leading into the 2012 election.
In remarks at the annual House Democratic retreat near the shore of Chesapeake Bay, Obama rallied the House Democrats with a campaign-style speech in which he defended Democrats’ legislative accomplishments over the past three years, acknowledged that lawmakers have had to make some “tough decisions” and reprised many of the arguments he made in Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

It seemed like the softball question of the night when the Republican candidates for president were asked at Thursday’s debate to name a Hispanic politician they would appoint to their Cabinet.
Of course, the near universal answer was Sen. Marco Rubio, the popular freshman senator from Florida who is on virtually everyone’s short list of likely Republican presidential running mates. All eyes have been on the Cuban American tea party favorite, who has remained neutral in the primary but nevertheless has made his mark on the race.

Walter Isaacson, who penned a best-selling book about the late Apple cofounder Steve Jobs, resigned Friday as the chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors to work on another book.
“I’m taking on another big writing project, so I won’t be able to give the BBG the time it needs and deserves,” he said in a resignation letter sent earlier Friday to the agency, which oversees U.S. international broadcasting, including the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe.
