CAT Telecom teams with Symantec

CAT Telecom has set up a new independent business unit, IT Security Business Development, that will provide managed security services to organisations.

CAT is making an initial investment of 200 million baht in the control room and application centre, and will also team up with Symantec for Security Information Management (SIM).

The country’s first security operation centre (SOC) will be capable of monitoring computer threats and warning customers in real-time, said CAT Telecom president Phisal Jorphochaudom.

He added that the government-owned operator planned to increase its investment to 450 million baht over three years, while it expected to generate revenue of around one billion baht within five years.

According to CAT head of IT Security Business, Dr Anotai Srikitja, Symantec’s SIM technology enabled the experts to examine and analyse any new kinds of threat and the effects these would have on organisations.
