Data centre security breaches – 3:1 it’s an inside job

Research carried out by Migration Solutions, the data centre specialist, claims to show that most data centre security breaches are the result of inside information. The research, which will be announced by company MD Alex Rabbetts at the Data Centres Europe 2007 conference on Friday of this week, shows that 65 per cent of data centre security incidents are driven by malicious intent, rather than economic gain. According to Rabbetts, last year’s data centre robberies in London were widely publicised, but this kind of external breach is still relatively rare and, as a result, the principal threat remains the enemy within.
